With Jesus by the sea… (Youthcamp in summer 2024)

… that was the theme of the 2024 Together in Christ (TiC) youth camp. 18 international young people of different nationalities and denominations from the district of Lippe and neighbouring towns spent 5 days in Sundern-Langscheid in the youth hostel on Lake Sorpe (Sorpesee).
On 18 August, the young people reported on their experiences during the leisure time during the international church service in the Christuskirche. The service was attended by around 70 people. Rev. Dieter Bökemeier, Pastor for Diaconia, Ecumenical Relations and Migration, interviewed some of the young people about their experiences of living together for a week in a heterogeneous group with different national backgrounds and how they got on with each other.
The young people said that it was difficult for them at first. But later, being together was very nice, even if communication was not always easy. The young people also talked about how much fun they had during the various joint activities. Most of the activities motivated them to interact with each other.
We hope that we will have even more young people with us next year, 2025.
